Do this to ensure your monthly Pension is not stopped - Know more

Those who receive a monthly pension from the government need to submit an annual Life Certificate or Jeevan Pramaan in November as proof of life. However, those are aged 80 years and above get a month extra to submit it from October 1
to November 30.

There are different modes through which pensioners can submit this annual proof of life. It can be submitted either online or in-person at banks or post offices. The pensioner can also avail of doorstep services for the same.

The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) lists various methods how pensioners can submit the life certificate.

Physical submission through bank branch: Pensioners may visit the bank branch in order to submit the proof. This bank branch is the one that disburses the pension of the beneficiary.

Online submission: Pensioners can submit Life Certificate online from home through Jeevan Pramaan Portal, a biometric-enabled digital service for pensioners. This digital submission can be made by attaching a UIDAI authenticated biometric device to their personal computer or mobile. 

Pensioners using this method need to ensure that their pension account is linked to their Aadhaar number.

UIDAI has provided details of all biometric devices which are permissible for capturing biometrics of a person. Pensioners may visit the site to get information of all such devices, the department added.

Submission through doorstep banking facility: A pensioner can also avail the doorstep services through India Post Payments Bank’s (IPPB’s) and Meity’s ‘Doorstep Service for submission of Digital Life Certificate through Postman’ service launched in November 2020.

The scheme utilises the vast network of postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks in providing doorstep collection facilities to pensioners for submission of life certificates digitally.

IPPB’s more than 1,89,000 Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks are equipped with smartphones and biometric devices to provide doorstep banking services. In order to use this service through mobile, a pensioner has to download Doorstep Banking App from Google Play store.

-In the app select your bank and request doorstep service for submission of Life Certificate.

-Enter your pension account number and verify it.

-You can now see Doorstep service charge, click on proceed.

-After submitting the request you will get a message with the name of agent. The agent will visit your house and complete Life Certificate submission process.
