Jio and Google announced today that the much-anticipated JioPhone Next, the made-for-India smartphone jointly designed by the two companies, will be available in stores from Diwali, adding to the festival cheer in the country. This will be the most affordable smartphone anywhere in the world as it is available at an entry price of Rs 1,999.
Buyers can pay the remaining amount in easy equated monthly instalments of 18 months and 24 months.


This is for the first time, the Mukesh Ambani-owned company has introduced EMI scheme for a device in this category, making it accessible for a much wider set of consumers. Analysts believe the EMI scheme can help the company in attracting more customers.

JioPhone Next Specification

The JioPhone Next is the first smartphone to operate on Pragati OS which makes its debut with Next. The Android based OS comes with Read Aloud, Translate features to help the first time buyers and those who could not read. The JioPhone Next features 13MP back camera and an 8MP selfie lens. The smartphone packs a 3,500mAh battery. JioPhone Next holds 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

JioPhone Next will be available across the country at Reliance Retail’s extensive network of JioMart Digital retail locations. 

The company has launched the phone in four different EMI schemes including data plans

Scheme 1) In this scheme a customer can opt for either 24 month EMIs of Rs 300 each or 18 month EMIs of Rs 350 each. In both cases, the customer will get 5GB data plus 100 minutes of calling per month.

Scheme 2) In this scheme, known as "Large plan" a customer can opt for either 24 month EMIs of Rs 450 each or 18 month EMIs of Rs 500 each. In both cases, the customer will get 1.5GB data per day plus unlimited voice calling.

Scheme 3) In this scheme, known as "XL plan" a customer can opt for same 24 month and 18 month EMIs of Rs 500 and Rs 550 respectively. In both cases, the customer will get 2GB data per day plus unlimited voice calling.

Scheme 4) Known as "XXL plan" a customer in this scheme will get 2.5 GB data per day along with unlimited voice calling by paying either 24 EMIs of Rs 550 or 18 EMIs of Rs 600 each. 

Customers will also get the option to purchase the phone upfront by paying Rs 6,499.
