Simple ways to request for reissue of Debit card which lost or damages

Debit-cum-ATM cards have become an integral way of life for customers. In metro cities and urban areas, people nowadays, prefer to make payments through debit, credit cards without the hassles of cash. Unlike Credit Cards, where
customers are required to settle bill payments every month, debit Cards allow customers to make payments which get directly deducted from the account.

In the era of digital payments, debit cards have become irreplaceable which is why banks have made it simple for customers to apply for reissue of ATM or Debit card in case it is lost, stolen, or damaged. It may be noted that if you have lost your debit card, the first thing to do is call the customer care right away and block your card to avoid tampering and misuse. Once the card is blocked, you can apply for reissue of cards

Here are four ways you can apply of reissue:
  1. Online via NetBanking: Banks offer net banking facility which allows users to do more than just fund transfer or credit card payment. Login to your respective bank website and open the cards section. In the service request section, locate the card that needs replacement and select to make a reissue ATM Card application. Banks accept the request and dispatch a new card to the registered mailing address within a couple of working days.
  2. Online via mobile banking: In case you do not have access to NetBanking, you can use bank's phone/mobile banking facility. Every bank's mobile application allows users to submit a card reissue request. Just log in to the bank's respective mobile app and select cards from the menu section. Click on service request from the cards section after identifying the specific card number for replacement.
  3. Customer care: If you are not internet, tech-savvy or if you are not comfortable using either NetBanking or mobile apps to raise these requests, you can reach out to your bank's customer care helpline number and speak to a customer service executive to register a reissue card application. Once your request is logged in by the customer care team, the new card is issued and will be dispatched directly to your registered mailing address.
  4. Branch visit: If none of the above-mentioned methods suits you and you are near the vicinity of a bank branch, you can just visit the bank branch and submit an application for a replacement of your debit card in person. As soon as your request is processed, you can collect the card from the branch or request for it to be delivered to your mailing address.

It is worth mentioning that while banks have simplified the process to reissue an ATM card or credit card, the process attracts a negligible replacement charge which varies from bank to bank. The charge would be directly debited to your account when the new card is issued. If you end up in a situation where you lose your card or it is stolen, remember first to block the debit card and use any of the 4 simple, secure and efficient ways mentioned above to request a reissue of card with the bank.
