mAadhaar's paperless offline e-KYC - Here's how to access this feature

mAadhaar introduces paperless offline e-KYC feature: In an effort to simplify the e-KYC (Know Your Customer) process through Aadhaar, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced an innovative "Paperless Offline e-KYC" feature in the mAadhaar
app. This enhancement aims to provide users with a convenient and secure method for generating shareable documents that can be used for offline verification of identity.

The mAadhaar app, a comprehensive platform for Aadhaar-related services, offers a multitude of functionalities, including Aadhaar authentication, locating enrollment centers, and accessing services such as EID/UID retrieval, Aadhaar download, biometric authentication, and mobile/email verification.

Paperless Offline e-KYC:

KYC, or Know Your Customer, is a critical process for organizations and financial institutions to validate the identity and authenticity of customers. Traditionally, this involves collecting various documents for identification purposes before onboarding customers. The newly introduced "Paperless Offline e-KYC" feature within the mAadhaar app revolutionizes this process.

With this feature, users can generate secure and shareable documents directly from the mAadhaar app, serving as an offline verification method. UIDAI describes it as a "secure shareable document which can be used by any Aadhaar holder for offline verification of Identification."

Step-by-Step Guide to Access Paperless Offline e-KYC:

  • Download or update the mAadhaar app from the Play Store or Apple App Store.
  • Log in using your registered phone number and enter the OTP received on your phone.
  • Navigate to the "Services" tab at the bottom and locate "Paperless Offline e-KYC" under "Aadhaar Services."
  • Enter your Aadhaar number, Share Code, and Security Captcha.
  • Tap on "Request OTP" and enter the OTP received. Click "Verify."
  • Once verified, the app will display a "Share eKYC" button.
  • Select the app through which you want to share the eKYC documents.

Sharing e-KYC for Offline Verification:

The mAadhaar app instructs users to share the generated .zip file with the organization or service provider. Include the "Share Code" and the registered mobile number for the offline verification process. Users have the flexibility to share the .zip file through various apps like WhatsApp or email.

By following these steps, users can seamlessly generate and share e-KYC documents, enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of the Aadhaar verification process. The mAadhaar app's Paperless Offline e-KYC feature represents a significant leap towards a more user-friendly and digitally streamlined KYC experience.
