Get to apply for PAN, Aadhaar, file taxes at these Railway stations. Check details

Indian Railways has decided to offer other benefits to travellers than just commute. In a major step, the Railways has started offering PAN and Aadhaar Card services at railway stations.

The passengers can also avail the facility to recharge their phones and pay electricity bills

at the railway stations. For bringing this into fruition, the Indian Railways said RailTel will help set up kiosks like common service centres, which will be called RailWire Saathi Kiosks.

Services offered at RailWire Saathi Kiosks

These Kiosks can be used by travellers to apply for Aadhar and PAN cards along with the facility to file taxes, voter cards, banking, insurance, income tax, bus tickets and air tickets.

As of now, two North Eastern Railway stations have been enabled to offer these services - Varanasi City and Prayagraj Rambagh. The Kiosks at these stations will be run by village level entrepreneurs of common service centres.

Phase 2 of RailWire Saathi Kiosks

Meanwhile, in the second phase, the Railways said that steps will be taken to start this facility at other railway stations including Gorakhpur. Various train stations are being marked for the same. Soon these services will also be offered at the Veerangana Laxmibai station.

Chief Public Relations Officer (North Eastern Railway) Pankaj Kumar Singh told a news portal that it is being planned to install Rail Wire Saathi Kiosks at other stations (200 stations) in future. He said that out of these 200 stations, 44 are in South Central Railway, 20 in Northeast Frontier Railway and 13 in East Central Railway. 15 are in Western Railway, 12 in West Central Railway and 13 in East Coast Railway. 56 stations are on North Eastern Railway.
