WhatsApp's new Registration Notifications feature - Here's how it works

WhatsApp is now introducing Registration Notifications feature. The new feature, which looks like the first step for the upcoming multiple-device support platform, alerts users if someone tries to log in to their WhatsApp account.

Know about Registration Notifications feature :>-

As part of the new Registration Notifications feature, WhatsApp will
send you a push notification when someone tries to register a WhatsApp account with your phone number.

The push notification will contain a numeric code that'll be required to verify your phone number. Hence, if you did not initiate a new registration, you would be intimated.

Feature is available for iOS users :>-

Registration Notifications feature will work across devices - whether you migrate from Android to iPhone or switch from an existing Android handset to a new device. However, at present, the feature is only available for iPhone users.

How the feature works :>-

If someone tries to use your phone number to log in to WhatsApp, you will get a notification saying "WhatsApp registration code was requested for your phone number".

You will have to enter this code on your new device to register your account. Without the registration code, no one can log in to your WhatsApp account.

Past conversations won't show on the new device :>-

Since WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted, you won't have access to your past conversations when you register on the new device. However, you can always back up your chats and download them when you switch devices.
