Know how to apply, eligibility for India Post mobile banking

Department of Posts has issued a circular on Monday, announcing that it has launched mobile banking for post office saving account customers. According to the circular, the services will be available from October 15, 2019, to all the
post office savings account holders of the core banking solutions (CBS) post offices. 

It may be noted that the launch of the mobile banking facility comes almost a year after the Department of Post launched Internet banking facility for its saving account holders.

Eligibility criteria-

1. Customers should have Post Office Savings Account in CBS Post Office.
2. Customers should have valid login and transaction credentials of Internet Banking. In case net banking is not enabled, mobile banking should be enabled after enabling the net banking option at CIF (customer ID) level by the SOL (service outlet).
3. Either Single or Joint 'B' account type customers are eligible.
4. Joint 'A', Minor, Lunatic, Illiterate, branch office (BO) accounts are not allowed for availing mobile banking facility. 

What are the pre-requisites-

The customers should provide a valid email ID, PAN and unique mobile number. The CIF ID should be updated with correct first name, last name, date of birth (DOB), father's name, gender, valid identity and address proof, correct present address, mobile number, PAN and mother's maiden name.

Facilities that can be availed of via mobile banking-

The facilities that can be availed by the post office savings account holder through mobile banking facility are-

Complaint Number/email ID- 

For any complaint regarding mobile banking, a customer can either call on toll-free number 1800-425-2440 or send an email at dopebanking@indiapost.gov.in. If the customer complains at any CBS post office, his/her complaint may be accepted and forwarded to the above email ID.

How to apply for mobile banking facility :-

Apply at CBS head

Eligible post office savings account holder can apply for the facility at ant CBS head/sub-post office but not in branch offices.

Submit duly-filled form

The Account holder will have to submit the duly-filled form (post office savings bank (POSB) ATM card, internet, mobile or SMS banking service request form) available with the post office.

Complete your KYC process

The KYC of the account holder should be completed. If it is not compeleted then you might have to undergo the KYC process at the time of submitting your request form.

Once the form is submitted at the branch, your mobile banking facility will be enabled after 24 hours. You can download the India Post Mobile Banking app from Google Play store. Your CIF ID will be user ID and your transaction password will be the password set through internet banking facility.
