How to renew passport in India? Here is the guide

Passport is the first and foremost requirement for a person travelling out of the country. A maximum number of countries need a Visa before departure from the source nation, while, there are about 40 countries which offer Visa
after arrival. But a passport is mandatory for visiting the countries which are offering Visa on arrival. Passport is considered as an international ID and is valid for 10 years in India. A person is required to renew the passport before the expiry date in order to continue using it for foreign travel.

Any person can obtain a passport from the eligible Passport Seva Kendra which comes under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. There is an application form for the renewal of passport which is required to be filled and submitted online. However, a person is required to visit the Passport Seva Kendra after submitting the renewal form and booking an appointment along with all requisite documents.

Please note that only emergency/medical cases and pre-approved categories may visit Passport Seva Kendra without an appointment. Further, the services will be provided at the discretion of Passport Seva Kendra in-charge/Passport Officer.
