EPFO credits 8.50% interest - Here's how to check PF balance


Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has credited an interest rate of 8.50 per cent in 22.55 crore account holders for the financial year (FY) 2020-21, retirement fund body said on Monday.

credited with an interest of 8.50% for the FY 2020-21," EPFO said in a tweet.

Here's how you can check PF balance in seconds:

SMS Method: If your UAN is integrated with your KYC details, you can send a text message to get your PF balance details. Type your text in format: EPFOHO UAN ENG. Here the last three letters determine the language of preference which one can change according to need. For example, HIN for Hindi, MAR for Marathi and TAM for the Tamil language. Send the SMS on the number 7738299899. You will receive your PF balance details.

Missed Call method: If your UAN is integrated with your KYC details proceed to give a missed call to the prescribed toll-free number. Give a missed call on 011-22901406. Post the call, you will receive an SMS that will contain all your PF account details.

Umang app method: Open the Umang (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app and click on EPFO. The member will be directed to a page that shows employee-centric services. Click on 'employee-centric services', which will direct the user to the page. Then, click on 'view passbook' and enter the UAN and one-time password (OTP), which the user will receive on the registered mobile number. After this, the member will be able to check the EPF balance.

Check PF balance via EPFO website:

You can even check your Provident Fund (PF) account balance through EPFO's official website. You have to log on to the EPFO's official website - epfindia.gov.in. and click on the e-passbook link which is available on the top right side of the portal.

You will be redirected to the EPF passbook page - passbook.epfindia.gov.in. Log in to the account by entering username - also known as UAN or Universal Account Number, and the password. The UAN is an identification number mentioned in the monthly salary slip of every employee.

Once logged in, the details on the concerned employment have to be selected. For example, someone who has worked in three different organisations will have three different member IDs to choose from. Select the member ID. After a member ID is selected, the user can view the EPF e-passbook or EPF passbook. The passbook indicates the balance in the EPF account.

How you can check EPF balance check without UAN number:

Step 1: Log in at EPF home page of epfindia.gov.in

Step 2: Click on 'Click Here to Know your EPF Balance”

Step 3: You will be redirected to epfoservices.in/epfo/. Go to “Member Balance Information”

Step 4: Select your state and click at your EPFO office link

Step 5: Enter your PF Account Number, name and registered mobile number

Step 6: Click on 'Submit' and your PF balance will be displayed.

It is worth adding that in order to check PF balance hyou need to activate the UAN. The passwrod will be sent to the mobile number. Note that subscribers can check PF balance only six hours after activating UAN.
