Further, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri virtually flagged off the flight operations by Alliance Air from Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) to Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and Hyderabad (Telangana) under the UDAN scheme of the Government of India.

The government of India has sanctioned Rs 48 Crores for Jagdalpur (expenditure incurred INR 45 Crores), Rs. 27 Crores for Ambikapur (expenditure incurred Rs 27 Crores), and Rs. 33 Crores for Bilaspur (expenditure made INR 20 Crores) under UDAN scheme for up-gradation and development of 3 Airports in Chhattisgarh, said Puri.

In a written reply by Hardeep Singh Puri in Rajya Sabha today stated the following reasons for the non-operationalization of few UDAN routes:

i) Lack of infrastructure at civil airports due to non-availability of land, delay related to compliance of the regulations by the airport operators, lack of road connectivity to the airports.

ii) Non-completion of the process involved in obtaining Scheduled Commuter Operators Permit by the Airlines.

Due to COVID-19, the commencement of the civil work of airports got delayed. Also, due to the suspension of domestic operations, the overall commencement of new routes got adversely affected.
