SBI debit card lost, damaged? How to block, 4 ways to request to reissue new card

State Bank of India (SBI), the country's largest bank, offers its customers the facility to block the SBI ATM cum debit card though phone call and SMS, in case the card is lost, stolen or misplaced. When the card is lost or stolen, the possibility
of misuse or unauthorised transaction is higher. 

If you have misplaced or lost your ATM card then you should immediately block your card linked to the registered account. For this, send an SMS from your registered mobile number as 'BLOCK<space>last four digits of the card to 567676. Once your request is for blocking the card is accepted, a confirmatory SMS alert with ticket number, date and the time of blocking will be sent on your registered mobile number.

One can block his or her SBI ATM card through a phone call as well. The SBI account holders can call up the customer care to register a complaint and block the card immediately. One will require to call up a toll-free number 18004253800 or 1800112211, this is an interactive voice response system (IVRS) where the customers will be guided with the further steps to block his or her card.

Four ways to request new SBI ATM cum debit card-

1. Website- You can place your reissue request by logging on to After that click on the 'Request' and then on 'Reissue/Replace Card'. Now select the card number and click 'Submit'.

2. Mobile App- Log in to sbicard mobile app and tap on the Menu tab at the top left hand. Now go to the 'Service Request' tab and tap on 'Reissue/Replace Card'. Then select the card number and tap on 'Submit'.

In the case of reissue and replacement of the card, you will need to pay a fee of Rs 100 plus applicable taxes. After placing the request to reissue or replace card, you will get the new card in seven working days. However, it may take some more time depending upon your location.

You can even choose to deactivate transactions at the point of sale (POS), ATM, international or domestic ones. You can control your ATM card usage by sending an SMS from your registered mobile number. After that, you can choose to activate whenever you wish to transact. For this type an SMS 'SWON/SWOFFATM/POS/ECOM/INTL/DOM<space>last four digits of the card number and then send it to 09223966666.

For instance- SWON POS 4321 to activate POS usage
SWOFF INTL 3245 to deactivate international usage

Once the request is accepted for activation or deactivation, you will get a confirmatory SMS alert which will have reference number, date and time of the request.
