Know How to update KYC of EPF UAN Online

KYC details for you EPF account could be updated online via UAN EPFO portal. To update or change your KYC (Know your customer) detail on UAN EPFO portal, you require UAN (Universal Account Number) credential.  You can login to EPFO UAN portal and update your KYC by uploading necessary documents online.

KYC details include PAN card number,
Aadhaar card, and bank account details. If you have not yet updated these details on the EPFO portal you must do it now. KYC update in EPF gives following benefits.

The proper KYC document completed account does not face any delay during transfer or withdrawal of money.

If bank account details are not updated your claim may get rejected.

The EPF member will not get any SMS alert if KYC documents are not submitted.

How to update KYC for EPF UAN Online?

1 – Login to EPFO UAN portal – using UAN credential. In the Manage tab, you will find menu ‘KYC’ and Contact detail.

2 – Select the KYC information you wish to update from the list.

3 – Update the detail on portal.The status of KYC will be shown as pending until details are approved by the employer.

4- Once your employer approves the changes status will be changed as “Approved by employer”. You will also receive SMS for the change.

Is it mandatory to update this KYC details?

No, it is not mandatory to update this KYC details. However, these details can help you in processing your claim faster. Not only that you can get a regular update on SMS if KYC details are updated.

Can I upload the document directly online?

It is necessary to certify these document using self-attestation. So, before scanning Xerox copy of this documents you must do self-attestation. In case of passport and driving license expiry date is important.

How much Time will it take to change approval status?

After uploading your employer has to approve the KYC. Your employer needs digital signature in order to authorize your KYC. It will take approximately 48-72 hours to change the approval status in the system. The information shall be verified from appropriate authorities by the system.

How do I know that KYC uploaded by me is approved by the employer?

The status will be shown against uploaded KYC document on the same page. The system will also trigger SMS on your register mobile number.

  1. I need approval from employer so I asked my employer she said that I am trying to approve u but that the site was not working it has a promblem wait until it works so what I have to do until approve I think it takes more time so I need your help

    2. It is due to technical error between Income Tax and epfo portal connectivity. However it may be noted that KYC of PAN no. in UAN is mandatory for EPF members with less than Rs 50000/- balance and less than 3 years of PF period of contributory service at the time of seeking final settlement of PF on leaving employment. In such cases you may have to file paper format manual claim Form 19 and Form 10C duly attaching self attested xerox copy of PAN along with filing a copy of Income Tax Form 15G for seeking exemption from TDS on amount of PF settlement received. However for those with either more than 5 years of PF contributory or less than PF balance of Rs.50000/- at the time of seeking PF settlement,without any need for KYC of PAN with UAN they can opt directly for online claim services provided other mandatory KYC documents viz, Aadhar, Bank account are KYC linked with UAN and approved by employer

    My employer is bankrupt now and not at all responding and on kyc employer updated my dob incorrect nad there is a difference of more than a year
    Now EPFO team needs employer verification for the same where as my all the documents are updated like, aadhaar, pan and bank account which shows my correct dob
    Because of this my pf is not getting clear
    Plz help

  12. I didn't find any link or button to upload the documents. Only Document number field and name as per the corresponding document fields are available. Kindly guide me where I have to upload the attested copies.
