How to file provident fund (EPF) withdrawal claim online

Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), the retirement body which runs Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS), allows its members to make partial withdrawal from their EPF account or take advance under certain conditions.
EPF withdrawal claims can be filed both online and offline. If you are doing it offline, then you have to fill the Composite Claim Form (CCF) and submit it to the nodal EPFO office. But if you want to do it online it can be done through EPFO's unified portal - unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in.

Partial withdrawal from EPF account is allowed for purposes like purchase/construction of house, land purchase, repayment of loan, non-receipt of wage for two months, marriage of self/daughter/son/brother, for medical treatment of family members etc.

In order to file an online EPF withdrawal claim, the UAN of the EPFO member should be activated and KYC (Know Your Customer)-verified through Aadhaar. Permanent Account Number (PAN), bank details and address should be updated in the member's portal. The mobile number linked to Aadhaar should also be in working condition.

Here is how to file online withdrawal claim for EPF

1) Log in to EPFO's unified portal -- unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in -- using your UAN and password.

2) On the homepage, select 'Claim' from the 'Online Services' menu

3) In the claim form, enter the last four digits of the bank account, and click on 'Proceed For Online Claim'.

4) In the new tab, fill details such as the address, the purpose and the amount of advance. Upload a scanned copy of cheque or passbook.

5) After you submit the above details, an OTP or One-Time Password will be sent to your mobile number linked with your Aadhaar. Enter the OTP and submit the online claim form.

After you submit the claim, it is forwarded to the employer for approval. You can check the status of your claim by selecting the option under 'online service'.
