Process to link Aadhaar with IRCTC

A person is allowed to book up to a maximum of six train tickets via IRCTC e-ticketing website, www.irctc.co.in, Indian Railways ticket booking counters and other Railway reservation offices in one month. Interestingly, the
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has a facility with which normal individuals can book up to 12 train tickets by linking the respective IRCTC account with the Aadhaar card.

According to IRCTC, a user can book up to 12 train tickets from the IRCTC e-ticketing website after verifying the Aadhaar card number and have at least one passenger being who is verified through Aadhaar. Passengers are required to update the verified passengers in passenger master list before proceeding forward to book the train tickets on the IRCTC website. User can add Aadhaar verified passenger from the master list at the time of booking to reserve additional tickets up to 12 train tickets in a month.

In order to link the Aadhaar card with the IRCTC account, you are required to log in at IRCTC website by the IRCTC user ID and password. Click on ‘Link Your Aadhaar’ under the ‘My Account’ tab. Enter Aadhaar card number or the virtual ID and name which is printed on the Aadhaar card, select the checkbox and click on ‘Send OTP’ button.

An OTP will be sent on the Aadhaar registered mobile number. Enter the OTP received and click on ‘Verify OTP’ and then click on the ‘Update’ button to complete the Aadhaar verification process.

A pop-up window will appear with the Aadhaar verification confirmation message following which you have to login again to continue booking train tickets. Aadhaar KYC status can be checked on selecting the ‘Link Your Aadhaar’ link under ‘My Account’ tab on top navigation of IRCTC e-ticketing website.
