Now Machines will give you Driving License - Here’s how

The automated driving test centres will be located at 12 different locations across Delhi. The main objective behind these centres will be to make driving licence issuance more transparent and efficient.

Getting your hands on a driving licence will no longer
be as simple as Delhi now has its own first ever fully automated driving test centre (ADTC). Minister of Transport, Delhi Government, Kailash Gahlot today inaugurated the ADTC at the Regional Transport Office in Mayur Vihar Phase I. In a bid to make roads safer in the city, Delhi Government, in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki, set up three more ADTCs at Vishwas Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan, and Shakur Basti.

The objective behind these ADTCs is to make the process of issuing driving licences more convenient, transparent and more efficient without much of human intervention.

The Department of Transport, Delhi Government will continue to conduct the tests and issue driving licenses to qualifying applicants at all Centres. Maruti Suzuki has invested over Rs 20 crore to set up these facilities. While the Department of Transport, Delhi will operate the facility immediately, Maruti Suzuki will maintain it for the next three years.

“Road Safety is an important CSR intervention for Maruti Suzuki. We have been working in this area for over a decade through multiple interventions for improving road safety scenario in the country. Delhi Government’s decision to adopt advanced technology to issue driving licenses is an important step towards road safety,” Ajay Kumar Tomer, Executive Director (Corporate Planning), Maruti Suzuki said.
