Here's how you can book 12 tickets from one user ID in a month with IRCTC

IRCTC has been trying to make passengers experience as hassle-free and convenient as possible. It may be noted that Railways catering and tourism arm IRCTC offers a host of service aside from ticket booking.

IRCTC has also recently revised some of its rules in order
to make sure to make its services better. Although a user can only book 6 tickets from one user ID in a month, IRCTC recently revised the rules and now it is possible for some users to book 12 tickets from a single IRCTC user ID in a month.

Users with IRCTC account whose Aadhaar is verified can now book 12 tickets in a month as opposed to just 6 earlier. According to the new rule, passengers can book online tickets 120 days prior to departure. Maximum two tickets can be booked from 1 user ID between 8 am and 10 am in a day.

You can only book 12 tickets a month if your Aadhaar is linked to the account. To complete the process, you must first click on the Aadhaar KYC option under the 'My Profile' category in the IRCTC website. After this, update your Aadhaar number following which a One-time password (OTP) will be sent to your mobile number linked to the Aadhaar. You will be required to enter the OTP during the verification.

Besides, updating your Aadhaar number, you will also have to add Aadhaar number of the passenger accompanying you as per the master list. This process will also be completed through a one-time password (OTP) verification as well. Once everything is verified, you will be able to book 12 tickets from one user ID in a month.

IRCTC has also made online ticket booking a time-bound procedure. Users will now get only 25 seconds to fill up the passenger details. Only 5 seconds will be given to enter Captcha code on payment page as well as passenger details page.

It may be noted that Tatkal tickets can be booked a day before the scheduled departure. Tatkal booking for AC coaches starts at 10 am while Tatkal booking for sleeper class starts at 11 am. According to IRCTC, travel agents are allowed to book tickets between 8 am, 8:30 am, 10 am, 10:30 am, 11 am and 11:30 am. The slots are given to ensure that other passengers can book their tickets smoothly.
