How to skip start screen and boot directly to Windows 8 Desktop

When Microsoft has launched Windows 8, it has come with the Windows Phone style Start Screen to the Operating System, which many users didn't like it, and have complained to get back to the old format Start Menu. Microsoft has replaced the Start Menu with Start Screen in the Windows 8 version.

Windows 8 users also complained on the direct boot into Start Screen, where if the user login, the Start Screen is displayed not on the Desktop, but there is a Desktop tile placed to switch to the traditional Desktop making it an unnecessary long process. Microsoft though has come up with same Start Screen to Microsoft Office 2013 suite, they however added the disable or bypass option to it.

In Windows 8, Microsoft didn't
provide any built-in option to disable or bypass for users to directly boot into Desktop, and here is the 3rd party software such as Classic Shell. Take a look at the following tutorial to skip start screen and boot directly to Windows 8 Desktop

1. Right click on the Taskbar and choose the Properties option.
2. The Taskbar and the Navigation properties window will get opened with this.
3. Enable the option "Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in" in the “Navigation" tab in "Start screen" section.

Disable the Windows 8 lock screen to log in faster, by heading to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Personalization and now double click "Do not display the lock screen" and enable the policy. The lock screen will be disabled.

Microsoft has changed the things in Windows 8.1 by putting a new option in Windows 8.1 to bypass Start Screen and direct boot to Desktop. Users can enable the option, and this will lead them directly to the Windows Desktop after login screen and the Start Screen will not appear after the user signs in. Microsoft has renamed the option to "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start" in the final version of Windows 8.1. An extra functionality is included in the option, that shows the desktop instead of Start Screen when you close the running metro app.
