Microsoft launches Windows 10 powered Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL

Microsoft on Tuesday at its "Windows 10 devices briefing" event launched the Windows 10 devices Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, along with the Surface Pro 4, Surface Book, and Microsoft Band 2 launches. The flagship devices are confirmed to be available from November, while the Lumia 550 will hit the markets from December.

Microsoft India has listed both
the devices and stated that these flagship devices will be arriving to India soon. The company however has not listed the flagship availability in Indian market.

Both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are the dual-SIM variants with some identical specifications to their single-SIM siblings, and they are packed with loads of Windows 10 features including Cortana, Microsoft Office and the Windows Store et al.

Lumia 950 has been priced at $549 (approximately Rs. 35,800), while the Lumia 950 XL is priced around $649 (approximately Rs. 42,300).

The Windows 10 Mobile-based Lumia 950 sports 5.2-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels resolution)   ClearBlack Amoled display offering 564ppi pixel density with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Powered by hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM, Lumia 950 comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage, expandable up to massive 200GB via microSD card. The dual Nano-SIMs supporting device comes with USB Type-C port, and is backed by 3000mAh removable battery.

Windows Phone built its reputation for making amazing smartphone cameras, and the Lumia 950 and 950XL offers awesome cameras sporting 20-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, OIS (optical image stabilisation), an f/1.9 aperture, and a triple-LED RGB flash module, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Lumia 950 measures 145x73.2x8.2m and weighs 150 grams.

Lumia 950 XL, on the other hand comes with 5.7-inch QHD display with a pixel density of 518pp. Under the hood, the handset is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC clocked at 2GHz and 3GB of RAM, with 32GB of inbuilt storage expandable up to massive 200GB via microSD card. The device measures 151.9x78.4x8.1mm and weighs 165 grams, while it packs a large 3340mAh batter.

The connectivity options on both the handsets include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, and 4G LTE (supports Indian LTE bands). These Windows based devices come with ambient light sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, barometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer sensors.
