Facebook launches gif-style video profile pics

Facebook has rolled out its new mobile profile options, where it allows you to use a GIF as your profile picture. "Soon, you'll be able to film a short, looping video clip that will play for anyone who visits your profile," Facebook said in its announcement.

It lets you create looping video clips, which lasts for 7 seconds via Facebook mobile app, and it will play in a silent loop, until you tap on it to actually remind on moving photos. To know if you have the new profile feature, go to profile on FB mobile app, click the more tab, and select the name to head the profile. If you are one of the users to have the new creative suite, you can notice the profile picture in the middle of the page. You can also enter the new summary bio by tapping on edit.
Hit on the icon between the camera and the video symbol on your profile picture, and select if you want to upload or take the video.
The new features are designed to highlight ‘what’s going on in their life, what’s important to them now in more expressive ways’, Facebook project manager Aigerim Shorman said.

Facebook has also come up with the feature for users to set a temporary profile photo, which will expire and revert to their previous one in specific time.
Facebook is also adding the ability for users to set a temporary profile photo that will expire and revert to their usual one at a specific time.“It can be a visual status update to let your friends know what’s going on in your life today, or it can be your statement of solidarity for a cause you feel strongly about,” product managers Aigerim Shorman and Tony Hsieh wrote in a blog post.

The Company has made the feature available initially to the small group of iPhone users in the UK and California, and it will soon roll out to other countries.
